Krka National Park lies within Šibenik-Knin County, and covers a total area of 109 km² of the loveliest sections of the Krka River, and the lower course of the Čikola River.

The national park is a vast and primarily unaltered area of exceptional natural value, including one or more preserved or insignificantly altered ecosystems. The purpose of the park is primarily to serve science, culture, education and recreation, while tourism activities have also been introduced for its visitors.

Including the submerged part of the river at the mouth, the Krka River is 72.5 km long, making it the 22nd longest river in Croatia. It springs in the foothills of the Dinara mountain range, 2.5 km northeast of Knin. With its seven waterfalls and a total drop in altitude of 242 m, the Krka is a natural and karst phenomenon. The travertine waterfalls of the Krka River are the fundamental phenomenon of this river.

The need to legally protect the Krka River and its exceptional natural values was already recognized in the mid 20th century. The initiative to proclaim the Krka River a national park was again launched in 1971, with the drafting of a physical plan entitled Krka National Park: physical development plan. On 24 January 1985, the Parliament of the Socialist Republic of Croatia proclaimed the area covering 142 km² from the Early Croatian fortresses of Trošenj and Nečven to the Šibenik Bridge, including 3.5 km of the course of the Čikola River, a national park. Due to four urban centres (Skradin, Bilice, Raslina and Zaton), the construction of the Zagreb–Split motorway and the development of tourism and other economic activities in the area, in 1997 the Croatian Parliament revised the park boundaries by passing the Act on Amendments to the Act on the Proclamation of Krka National Park. The southern border of the park was shifted to upstream from the Skradin Bridge, and the northern part virtually all the way to Knin. The park boundaries stretch for 50 km along the upper and middle course of the Krka River (two kilometres downstream from Knin all the way to Skradin), and the lower course of the Čikola River (including the confluence and 3.5 km of the river canyon), in the territory of the towns of Knin, Drniš and Skradin, the City of Šibenik, and the municipalities of Ervenik, Kistanje and Promina.

The seat of the Public Institution of Krka National Park is in Šibenik, at Trg Ivana Pavla II 5, with branch offices in Skradin, Drniš and Knin.

Krka National Park is managed by the Public Institute, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection of the Republic of Croatia. The activities of the Institute include protection, preservation and promotion of the national park, for the purpose of protecting and conserving the natural resources, and supervising the implementation of environmental protection measures within the protected area.

The bodies of the Public Institute are the Management Council and Director. The Management Council governs the Institute, while its operations are organised and managed by the Director, who is appointed by the Minister of Environmental and Nature Protection. The Public Institute of Krka National Park is divided into six services and 15 departments that are overseen by the Office of the Director.

Nature phenomenon the Imotski lakes, which is a red and a blue sinkhole lake. Imotski is situated in the mountain land of Dalmatiaclose to the Bosnian border, a 100 km drive from Split. It took us around 1 hours and 15 minutes to get there.

Both lakes has some impressive dimensions which actually makes them some of the largest sinkhole lakes in the world, the blue lake has cliffs sides up to 900 meters high, the red lake has almost vertical Cliff side which make it a bit scary for people like me with height problems to look down the whole.

Too the bottom of the blue lake there is a walking path, so you can actually walk all the way down, so in the summer the local people swim in the see. And special phenomenon whit the blue lake is that it actually dry out from time to time, when this happen the local people play soccer at the bottom of the lake.

The red lake can only be seen from the small viewing platform next to the road. Numerous divers have tried to find the bottom of the red lake, until now the have only succeeded to determine that the red lake continues into a cave 280 meter below the surface. A funny thing about the red lake is that is almost impossible to throw a stone into the water, We tried numerous times with out any luck so if plan to make holiday in Croatia and are close to Imotski, maybe you should give a try.

Fenomen prirode Imotski jezera, što je crveno i plavo jezero od jezerca. Imotski se nalazi u planinskom krajoliku Dalmacije na Bosanskoj granici, 100 km vožnje od Splita. Trebalo nam je oko 1 sat i 15 minuta da stignemo tamo.

Oba jezera imaju impresivne dimenzije koje ih zapravo čine nekim od najvećih jezera na svijetu, plavo jezero ima stijenke do 900 metara, crveno jezero ima gotovo vertikalnu stranu Cliffa, što ga čini pomalo zastrašujućim ljudima poput mene s visinskim problemima da gledaju cijelu cjelinu.

Preko plavog jezera nalazi se pješačka staza, tako da možete ići sve do kraja, tako da ljeti lokalni ljudi plivaju u vidikovcu. I posebni fenomen s plavim jezerom jest da se s vremena na vrijeme suši, kada se to dogodi, lokalni ljudi igraju nogomet na dnu jezera.

Crveno jezero može se vidjeti samo s malene platforme za gledanje uz cestu. Brojni ronioci pokušali su pronaći dno crvenog jezera, do sada su uspjeli utvrditi da se crveno jezero nastavlja u spilju 280 metara ispod površine. Smiješno je što je crveno jezero gotovo nemoguće bacati kamen u vodu. Probali smo mnogo puta bez ikakve sreće, pa ako planirate odmor u Hrvatskoj i blizu Imotskog, možda biste trebali pokušati.

Biokovo Nature Park above Makarska is the second-highest mountain range in Croatia, located along the Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic Sea, between the rivers of Cetina and Neretva. It is sometimes referred to as Bijakova, especially among inhabitants of the eastern side of the mountain. Its highest peak is Sveti Jure (Saint George), at 1762 m.a.s.l. It shows a typical karst landscape.

Atop the peak there is a powerful FM and DVB-T transmitter.

The 196 km2 of its area is protected as a nature park with over 1,500 plant and animal species, some of which are endemic.

Biokovo is one in a line of Dinaric Alps stretching along the Dalmatian coast - northwest of it is Mosor and southeast of it are Sutvidand Rilić. In the east, the Šibenik runs in parallel. When the weather is very clear, from the top of Biokovo it is possible to see Monte Gargano in Italy, which is 252 km (157 mi) away.
